How to connect to a hotspot using WiFi technology

To connect to a hotspot using Wi-Fi® technology, complete the following steps:

  • On the BlackBerry Smartphone Home screen, select Set Up Wi-Fi.
  • Select Next.
  • Select Scan For Networks.
  • If prompted, select Turn Wi-Fi on.
  • From the list of available Wi-Fi networks, select the appropriate Wi-Fi network.
  • Specify the required security credentials.

Note: Public and semi-public hotspots usually use a captive portal for network security and do not require security credentials at this step in the process.

  • Select Connect to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
  • To save the Wi-Fi network connection as a profile, select Yes from the Save this Wi-Fi Network as a Profile field.
  • Type a profile name in the Profile Name field.
  • Select Next.
  • Select Wi-Fi Hotspot Login to open the captive portal in the browser.

  • Specify the security credentials or payment options for the captive portal.

Note: The security credentials or payment options required by captive portals vary. Contact the network administrator for more information.

  • Once the captive portal authentication is complete, click Start BlackBerry Connection from the menu to connect to the Internet through the hotspot.

Note : Also do the wifi diagnostic and make sure that your connected to the blackberry infrastructure . if yes you should be able to access both Emails and Internet using your wifi. If no you only able to surf the Internet using wifi.
